The Morgan 3 Wheeler is Back!!!

Morgan 3 Wheeler

The Morgan 3 Wheeler is back! Certainly an acquired taste.

For the first time in 58 years, Morgan is planning to offer its classic motorbike-engined 3 Wheeler for sale again. The new version of the car Sir Stirling Moss called a great babe magnet is at the Geneva Auto Show this week, where Morgan Motor is gauging customer interest.

Launched with an aim to bring the fun and passion back to personal transport, the Morgan 3 Wheeler is powered by a fuel-injected, 115-horsepower V Twin engine, built by specialists S&S, mated to a Mazda five-speed gearbox, which accounts for smooth get in and drive convenience with the thrill of amazing performance. A reinforced tubular chassis and twin rollbars for driver and passenger take care of the safety.

Thanks to the fact that the 3 Wheeler weighs in at around 500kg (1100 lb), Morgan predicts that the car will complete the 0-60mph sprint in 4.5 seconds and hit 115mph flat out. Suspension and chassis dynamics were honed in-house by the same engineering team at work on Morgan’s coming Eva GT, which will have four wheels. A leather-padded cockpit, with aircraft-style instrumentation, is standard equipment.

From 1909 to 1953 around 30,000 Morgan Threewheelers were manufactured in Malvern. In 1913 the car famously won the French Grand Prix and achieved an average speed of over 100mph around the banked Brooklands track. Stirling Moss, who owned one, once said: “My Morgan was a great babe magnet.”
Morgan says the vehicle has zip, gets good fuel mileage, handles well and, above all, is safe, despite its lone rear wheel. The 3 Wheeler has already passed safety and emissions tests for the United States and Britain, according to the brand.

Its base price is £25,000, (approx. $40,000), and the company claims it is ready to take orders, produce and ship. There are a number of options available, among them British Royal Air Force and United States military decals, a fearsome shark nose, national flags and the Morgan-wings insignia
